About Us

About Us

Vets on the Go is a mobile veterinary clinic which aims to provide veterinary care for animals on the island of Grenada regardless of location.

Vets on the Go is ideal for pets who are older, immobile, or anxious when travelling. It will also be an advantage for multi-pet households, people with very busy schedules and for anyone without transport. The benefit of having the vet come to you is that it is convenient, lessens the stress for you and your pet and reduces the risk of contagious disease.

We charge a reasonable fee for these services but as it is a non-profit organisation all proceeds go into helping the animals of Grenada by organizing spay/neuter and vaccination clinics especially in areas where there are little or no veterinary services. We also rely greatly on private donations of medical supplies and funding to make this happen.

Meet The Team

Dr. Emma D'Arcy

Dr. Emma D'Arcy

Emma completed her first degree at the University of Dublin, Ireland. This was a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Pharmacology. Emma then went on to complete her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in Budapest, Hungary. Emma qualified in 2009 and has worked since then as a small animal general practitioner in a hospital environment and multi-branch practices in the UK. In Grenada, Emma volunteered and worked with the local SPCA. It was during this time that she realized how much she loved outreach work in the community and how most of the island found it difficult to access the veterinary care needed for their pets. This is how the idea for ‘Vets on the Go' developed.

Shurlyne Matheson

Shurlyne gained experience in veterinary, animal husbandry, pest management, the fisheries, forest and plant production from 2005 to 2009. Having a passion for cattle artificial insemination, Shurlyne was offered and availed of a course in this field. Between 2012 and 2017, Shurlyne worked full time in a non-profit veterinary clinic on Carriacou as a veterinary technician and clinic manager. During this time Shurlyne performed consults, routine surgeries and emergency procedures as well as the day to day running of the animal clinic. Shurlyne also assisted Dr. Louison while he was the chief vet. She thoroughly enjoys field work and this coupled with her passion for veterinary care and empathy for animals lead to be instrumental in forming ‘Vets on the Go'.

Dr. Bowen Louison

Dr. Louison is a director for ‘Vets on the Go'. He was the chief vet of Grenada for several years and currently an Associate Professor at St. George's University.
